And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who, for us humans and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And we believe in one Holy, Universal, and Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and we anticipate the return of our Lord, the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God. Therefore, all Scripture is authoritative, infallible, and inerrant. The Word of God is the only sufficient rule for faith and practice, life and godliness. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is the focus of divine revelation (Ps. 19:7; Jn. 5:39; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21). We believe that there is but one true and glorious God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of Himself, all perfections, and being holy and infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience that springs from faith (Deut. 6:4; Ps. 145:3; 1 Cor. 8:4-6; 1 Tim. 1:17). We believe that the Scriptures reveal that the one God eternally exists in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person has distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being (Matt. 3:16-17; 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14). We believe that God, from eternity, ordains all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any way to be the author or approver of sin, nor to destroy the agency, responsibility, or culpability of intelligent creatures (Isa. 46:9-11; Prov. 16:33; Eph. 1:11-12; Col. 1:17; Heb. 1:3; Jas. 1:13-15). We believe that election is God's eternal choice of some persons unto everlasting life — not conditioned on any foreseen merit or goodness in them, but of His mercy in Christ — in consequence of which choice they are called, justified, and glorified (Rom. 8:28-30; 1 Cor. 1:27-29; Eph. 1:4, 11). We believe that God has created mankind to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. God originally created Mankind in His own image, and free from sin, but, through the temptation of Satan, Adam transgressed the command of God in unbelief, and fell from his original holiness and righteousness; whereby his posterity inherit a sinful nature, corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law. As a result they are under condemnation, and as soon as they are capable of moral action, become actual transgressors. All people are sinners by nature and by choice (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:1-7; Isa. 43:6-7; Ps. 16:11: Rom. 3:9-18; 5:12-19; Eph. 2:1-3). We believe that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is fully God and fully man; He is the divinely appointed mediator between God and man. Having taken upon Himself human nature, yet without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the law, suffered and died upon the cross as a substitute for the salvation of sinners. By His death and resurrection, Jesus satisfied the wrath of God for all of those who would trust in Him. He was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended to His Father, at whose right hand He ever lives to make intercession for His people. As the Good Shepherd who has laid His life down for the sheep, He will return again visibly and bodily to receive them unto Himself. He is the only Mediator, the Prophet, Priest and King of the Church, and Sovereign of the Universe (Isa. 53:10-12; John 1:1, 14; 6:37; 10:11, 16; 14:3; Acts 1:9-11; Rom. 3:21-26; 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Gal. 3:13; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 1:1-3). We believe that God the Holy Spirit brings glory to the Father and the Son. He applies the life, death, and resurrection of Christ to the elect; distributes ministry gifts to every believer, according to His sovereign good pleasure, for the purpose of building up the body of Christ; and He gives understanding to believers concerning the Word of God. He is the Comforter, the Spirit of Adoption, the Seal of our Salvation, and the Guaranator of our inheritance in Christ (John 14:16-17; 16:14; Acts 5:3; Rom. 8:14-17; 1 Cor. 2:6-16; Eph. 1:13-14). We believe that regeneration is a change of heart, wrought by the Holy Spirit, who gives life to those dead in trespasses and sins, enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the Word of God, and renewing their whole nature, so that they love and practice holiness. Regeneration is a work of God's free and special grace alone (Eph. 2:1-6; Tit. 3:5; 1 John 5:1). We believe that repentance is a gift of God's grace, wherein a person is made sensible of the manifold evil of his sin, humbles himself for it, possesses godly sorrow for, and detestation of it, and with purpose, endeavors to walk before God so as to please Him in all things (Acts 2:37-38; 11:18; 2 Cor. 7:10-11). We believe that saving faith is the belief, on God's authority, of whatever is revealed in His Word concerning Christ, receiving, treasuring, and resting upon Him alone for justification and eternal life. Faith is the gift of God, wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit, is accompanied by all other saving graces, and leads to a life of holiness (Rom. 3:27-28; 4:1-5; 4:17-25; 10:14, 17; Phil. 1:29; Eph. 2:8; Jas. 2:14-26) We believe that justification is both God's gracious and full acquittal of sinners from all sin, and the imputation of Christ's perfect righteousness through faith alone. Justification is accomplished for believers through the satisfaction that Christ has made; not for anything wrought in them or done by them; but on account of the obedience and satisfaction of Christ. By faith alone the Christian receives and rests on Christ and His righteousness (Gen. 15:6; Acts 13:38-39; Rom. 3:21-26; 8:34; 10:3-4; 2 Cor. 5:21; Phil. 3:9). We believe that those who have been regenerated are also sanctified by God's Word and indwelling Holy Spirit through faith. This sanctification is progressive through the supply of Divine strength, which all saints seek to obtain, pressing after a holy life in faithful obedience to all of Christ's commands (Jer. 31:31-34; Ezek. 36:25-27; Rom. 8:1-17; Gal. 5:13-24; 2 Pet. 1:3-21). We believe that all those whom God has regenerated will never totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere to the end; and though they may stumble through neglect and temptation, into sin, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach on the church, and temporal discipline on themselves, yet they shall be renewed again unto repentance, and be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation (John 6:37-40; 10:28-29; Rom. 8:28-39; 1 Cor. 1:8-9; Phil. 1:6). We believe that the church exists for the glory of God and the joy of His people. The Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the church, which is composed of all His true disciples, and that in Him is invested supreme power for its government. According to His commandment, Christians are to associate themselves into particular churches; and to each of these churches He has given needful authority for administering that order, discipline and worship which He has appointed. The regular officers of a church are Elder and Deacon (Matt. 16:13-20; 18:15-20; John 10:16; Acts 20:17, 28; Eph. 1:22; 2:19-22; 3:21; 5:23; 1 Tim. 3:1-15; 5:17-18; Tit. 1:5-9; Heb. 10:25). We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience and a profession of faith in Christ, symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Baptism is the believer's entrance into the body of Christ, and is a testimony to faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-5; 1 Cor. 12:13). We believe that the Lord's Supper is a sign to be received by faith and obedience, whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, celebrate the New Covenant in Christ's blood, memorialize the death of the Redeemer, profess and signify their persevering faith in Christ, display their communion with Christ's body in church membership, and anticipate His second coming. Self-examination and reflection upon the death and resurrection of Jesus for one's sins should always precede and accompany this solemn and celebratory observance (Matt. 26:26-29; 1 Cor. 10:16-17; 11:23-34). We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord's Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead, salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone, and looks forward to the rest that still remains for the people of God. The Lord's Day should include expressions of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. Activities on the Lord's Day should be regulated and guided by the Word of God, and commensurate with the Christian's conscience under the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Ex. 20:8-11; Matt. 12:1-14; 28:1ff.; Mark 2:27-28; 16:1-7; Luke 24:1-3, 33-36; John 4:21-24, 20:1, 19-28; Acts 20:7; Rom. 14:5-10; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; Col. 2:16, 3:16; Heb. 4:1-10; Rev. 1:10). We believe that it is the joyful privilege and responsibility of every Christian to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God. This includes spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to unbelievers, and teaching, admonishing, counseling, warning, encouraging, and correcting one another in love, for the building up of the body in Christ-likeness. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded His Church to make disciples in the power of the Holy Spirit, by baptizing professing believers and teaching them to observe all that our Lord Jesus has commanded. The verbal witness of the gospel is to always be undergirded by a Christian lifestyle and prayer (Matt. 28:18-20; Eph. 4:11-16; Col. 3:16; 4:2-6; Heb. 3:12-13). We believe that marriage was instituted by God to image forth His triune glory and picture for the world the gospel of Jesus Christ. With that as God’s grand goal in marriage, He has established the marital framework of committed companionship for mutual aid in fulfilling the creation mandate, for sexual intimacy and expression, and for the reproduction and raising of children, who are a blessing from the Lord and, from conception, have been created in the image of God. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. Gender is a gift from God. Male and female were created in God’s image, and are equal before Him in dignity and personhood. In God’s wisdom, men and women have been given differing roles and responsibilities within marriage which are essential and complementary (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:15-25; 3:1-20; Ex. 20:12; Deut. 6:4-9; Pss. 78:1-8; 127; 139:13-16; Prov. 1:8; 5:15-20; 6:20-22; 12:4; 13:24; 14:1; 17:6; 18:22; 22:6,15; 23:13-14; 24:3; 29:15,17; 31:10-31; Eccl. 9:9; Mal. 2:14-16; Matt. 5:31-32; 18:2-5; 19:3-9; Mark 10:6-12; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 7:1-16; Eph. 5:21-33; 6:1-4; Col. 3:18-21; 1 Tim. 5:8, 14; 2 Tim. 1:3-5; Tit. 2:3-5; Heb. 13:4; 1 Pet. 3:1-7). We believe that God alone is Lord of the conscience; and He has left it free from bowing to the doctrines and commandments of men, which are contrary to His Word, or not contained in it. Though both entities are under the sovereign authority of God, church and state are to be separate, with no power being given to the state concerning the worship of God. Civil government being ordained of God, it is the duty of Christians to render loyal obedience thereto in all things not contrary to the revealed will of God. The church should not resort to the civil power to carry on its work. The gospel of Christ contemplates spiritual means alone for the pursuit of its ends (Matt. 15:9; Rom. 13:1-7; 14:4; Acts 5:29; Col. 2:20-23; 1 Pet. 2:13-17). We believe that God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in power and glory to the earth, the dead will be raised, and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting, conscious punishment. Moses joined the Air Force after graduating from High School. Not long after arriving at his first duty station at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA, God used a coworker and others to graciously save him. Ten years later, while stationed  at McGuire AFB in NJ, he met and married Camille. Moses retired from the  USAF in 2002 and moved his family to VA. They moved to Stafford VA in  2004 and started attending Stafford Baptist Church in 2005. He first served  as an Elder from 2017 to 2023 and has recently started serving again in 2024 after a year long sabbatical. Moses and Camille have 2 children (Paul & Kathy) and 4 grandchildren (Lydia, Aaron, Evan & Shawn)! Elliott was born and raised in Stafford County. By God's grace, through the faithful ministry of a friend's family he came to know the Lord in high school. Elliott met his wife Beth at the University of Mary Washington through a campus ministry. They were married in 2009 and joined Stafford Baptist Church shortly after. In 2017 Beth and Elliott added their daughter Grace to their family. Elliott is a software developer and served as an elder from March 2019 - June 2024 and has recently started serving again at the end of 2025 after a year long sabbatical. God graciously saved Paul through faith in Jesus Christ when he was in middle school (while attending SBC!). Paul attended Liberty University and graduated with a Theology & Apologetics degree in 2015. Paul has attended Stafford Baptist since 2005 and was installed as an elder in January 2021. Paul is married to his wonderful wife, Tori, and together they have three children: a daughter, Lydia and two sons, Aaron & Evan. Paul loves sports (especially the Pittsburgh Steelers) and spending time with his family. Kelton Zacharias grew up in Connecticut and came to the DC area in 2005 to attend the George Washington University. By God’s grace, his roommate was a Christian who encouraged him to attend a campus bible study. Though he was raised in a churched home, he came to know the Lord through that college ministry. Kelton met his wife Rebekah at GWU in 2006 – they started dating in 2012 when they were both members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church, and they were married in the summer of 2013. Kelton is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and before coming to Stafford served six years on the staff of Del Ray Baptist Church. Kelton was installed as an elder in March 2020. He is father to three children: Walker, Asa, and Emory. Kelton loves the Washington Nationals, fishing, and reading. Tangie is a 4th grade teacher at a local christian school and in March of 2025 began serving SBC as deacon of children's ministry. We want to foster an environment through our named gatherings where members are encouraged to build individual relationships that are saturated by a spiritual tenor and a gospel centrality. You can learn about some of the opportunities for adults to gather below. The main organized ministry of this church is our corporate worship service on Sunday mornings at 10:30am. This is a gathering for all ages from babies to adults. Though we know it can be hard a times for our youngest participants so we do offer childcare from birth through pre-K. We understand this service to be the only formal gathering commanded by God in the Bible (see Hebrews 10:24-25). As such, this is the best chance to learn about who we are, and to get to know the people of SBC. During these gatherings, we sing God's Word, read God's Word, pray God's Word and hear God's Word proclaimed. They usually meet weekly in the home of a group member. We have three priorities during these gatherings: 1) Study & Application of God's Word 2) Fostering fellowship & discipling relationships 3) Prayer; bringing praise, confession, thanksgiving, & requests to God. Our hope for these gatherings is that the organized will produce organic ministry to one another. Many of our women participate in bible studies and book studies informally, visit us on a Sunday and we'd love to connect you with some of those! Our men's ministry is aimed at 3 things: We want to grasp the gospel together, we want to study the Scripture and we want to continue in community. While our hope is that this happening organically one on one throughout the men of our church, we have some organized opportunities. We have 2 different every other week men only bible studies (Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings), a monthly coffee and then we gather on the second Saturday every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) at 8am to grow in relationships of grace through doing fun together. You can visit the calendar below to learn about when we are hosting our next gathering! Our kids' programs provide opportunities for children age 0 to grade 5 to learn the Bible. We do this primarily through providing Sunday School classes for all ages and grades on Sunday morning.  Our mission and desire is to partner with parents and guardians in discipling their children. We also offer exceptional childcare for infants and toddlers during our Sunday morning gatherings. They began meeting Sunday mornings on May 2, 1976 and continued to grow. This group of people covenanted together as Stafford Baptist Church on March 4, 1979 with a total of 59 members.  On August 13th, 1978 Stafford Baptist called their first full time pastor, Reverend H. Allen Redd. In March of 1980 the cornerstone of the building (in which we still meet today) was laid. The first meeting in that building was held on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1980 with 105 members present.  In 1984 the church began construction on a second building, where our current main gathering space is located. This construction was completed in 1987.   From 1985 - 2000 Stafford Baptist grew in a variety of ways. In those 15 years the church added a third and fourth part of the building, including an education wing and large gym. The church grew in number, at one point reaching 275 members who were actively participating and fellowshiping with one another.  In 1995, under the leadership of Pastor Joe Owings, the church voted to disassociate themselves from the Fredericksburg Baptist Association and to affiliate with the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV). We are still affiliated with the [SBCV](http://www.sbcv.org/) (state level) and the [Southern Baptist Convention](http://www.sbc.net/) (national level).   In early 2000, God in his good providence brought Bill Jessup to pastor Stafford Baptist. In 2004, God brought Naethan Hendrix to Stafford, to help the church plant [Pillar Church in Dumfries](http://www.pillardumfries.com/), VA and Pillar Church Quantico.   In 2005, Stafford Baptist began feeling a desire to plant a native language speaking baptist church in Iceland. In 2008 the church sent their youth pastor Colby Garman and his family to work towards this ambitious goal. In 2010, after the Garman's returned, Stafford Baptist sent their pastor Bill Jessup and his family to continue the work in Iceland, where eventually [Loftstofan Baptistkirkja](http://www.theicelandproject.org/loftstofan.html) was started.  In 2011, Naethan Hendrix was called as the next pastor of Stafford Baptist Church. He pastored the church for seven years during which he lead the church in a significant change including establishing a plurality of elders. This was a refining time for Stafford Baptist in many ways, though God has used it for our good and His glory. Seen as the church continued to work towards the gospel going to the nations as we participated actively with the [Praetorian Project](https://www.facebook.com/ThePraetorianProject/) and planting [Redeemer Church](https://redeemerkg.org/) in King George. On January 12th, 2020 Stafford Baptist called Kelton Zacharias to be their next lead pastor. We are grateful for the way the Lord has worked in the past, sustaining and growing this local church. And we are excited for where God is leading us into the future. We usually gather together on Sunday mornings for Sunday school at 9:30am and a congregational worship service at 10:30am. Our worship service usually lasts until about noon. We meet at 2202 Richmond Highway Stafford, VA 22554.  You can expect to find a warm and welcoming community spanning generations, occupations, and backgrounds. Ultimately, you can expect to find a community of sinners, justified by grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus and actively seeking to spur one another on toward godliness. We at Stafford Baptist want to be known for making much of Jesus Christ. We are imperfect people rescued by the gracious work of God the Son, Jesus Christ, being sanctified through God the Spirit, for the glory of God the Father. We think there are lots of cool things about Stafford Baptist, but there's one important thing: the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We hope and pray that our services are simple, easy to follow and God-glorifying. To that end: You are welcome to keep them with you. You'll find many families do. In an effort to help your kids follow along with the sermon and the main idea of the week, we have children activity pages available as you arrive. We do offer childcare for children up until they enter kindergarten, to learn more click the link below. All of our nursery workers have been background checked and trained. And all of them love caring for children. If you have any questions when you arrive, we'll be happy to help in any way we can. When we gather as a body to sing, we have the joyful privilege of joining together in eager obedience out of the overflow of grateful hearts. We sing a mixture of traditional and modern hymns, contemporary and original music, and older familiar hymn lyrics set to contemporary melodies.  We think the church learns much of its theology from singing, so we strive to feed one another a healthy diet of Gospel-rich songs that have stood and/or will stand the test of time. When coming to SBC you'll find people wearing a variety of clothes from shorts and t-shirts, to jeans and a polo to dresses and suits. There is no "dress requirement" in that sense. We believe the Lord cares more about the heart condition than the attire you're wearing.  There are many stereotypes attached to "Baptists" (some true, some not). We understand ourselves to be Baptist in our theology, particularly believing that baptism is for those who believe in Jesus and repent of their sins. Our membership covenant is an expression of the commitments we make towards one another as members of this local church, to care for and build up our fellow members. Each member of our church has committed to carrying out these promises in their lives, and as you read the promises written below, we hope you get a glimpse of our care for one another. Having been called and empowered by the Spirit of God, to receive Jesus Christ as the Lord, Savior, and supreme Treasure of our lives, and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ (1 Cor. 12:4-20). We engage that when we remove from this body of Christ, we will unite with a likeminded church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant (Heb. 10:24- 25). Moreover, as a result of this covenant relationship, to these and all other scriptural duties we do humbly, voluntarily, and joyfully submit ourselves, promising and purposing to perform them, not in our own strength, but by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. As a church we are committed to doing good to those in our church and in our community. We seek to do good physically, emotionally, financially and most importantly spiritually. If you are in need of care, we'd love to see how we might meet those needs. A great way to begin this conversation is filling out the community care form below.  At the heart of all the good we seek to accomplish is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our good works are tied to the gospel, as we see in Titus 2:11-14. It is in the gospel that we see why we are suffering - because of sin, our first parents, Adam and Eve rebelled against our Creator and because of that the world has been broken. We too sin, we need hope. This hope is offered in Jesus Christ, who is God who took on flesh to rescue us from our sin through dying the death we deserved and rising again. The hope for sufferers is found in the risen and reigning Jesus Christ. So, in our care we will be centered on the gospel.  One of the greatest needs of our day is community. God said in the garden, "it is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). The reality is that what we need in our suffering are people to come alongside of us. To offer encouragement, correction, wisdom, guidance and support. This is one of the reasons God gives us the church. When we are saved and delivered from our sin, we are delivered into a group of people: the church (1 Peter 2:10). So one of the ways that we will seek to care for others is through the gospel community of Stafford Baptist Church.  We believe that the there is power in the gospel. Romans 1:16 says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." Romans 12:1-2 says, "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." We believe that the gospel has power to transform lives. There is hope for sinners and sufferers in the gospel of Jesus. We recognize the gospel-reality that not only those who are seeking care are in need of the gospel, but so are we as those seeking to provide care. All have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Because we are broken people too, we will depend on the work of God’s spirit, relying on God by prayer and seeking wisdom from His Word and the help of our community of believers. We give to show that we treasure God above everything else. We give as one way to participate in the work of God in our congregation, in our community and around the world. We give because regular generous giving is the responsibility of every member of our church who is able. We believe that children are a gift from God. We also believe that parents have the first and primary responsibilities to diligently teach their children of the Christian faith. Our vision for the children's ministry at Stafford Baptist Church is to equip, encourage & support parents, as they seek to fulfill their God-given responsibilities so that many new generations of faithful believers will rise up and continue on with the faith of their fathers and mothers. (Ps. 127:3-5, Deut. 6:4-9, 2 Tim. 3:14-15) Our primary organized programmed kids' ministry happens on Sunday mornings. You can learn more about that below! Sunday school at SBC begins at 9:30am. During that time we offer something for kids ages 0 years old - 5th grade. During our Corporate Worship Service at 10:30am, your children are welcome to remain with you through the service. We love when kids are in our service. Kid note pages will be provided for those who are in the service. For those who would like, we provide childcare for kids ages 0-pre-K. *Checks and Training*: All of our nursery workers have been background checked and trained. And all of them love caring for children. *Finding Our Childcare Wing*: When you enter our main doors for corporate worship, there are a set of stairs on your right. Walk down those stairs and turn left and you'll enter our childcare wing.  *During the Service*: When you check your children in, you will give some basic info so that we can best serve your kids. An example would be to give any allergies, so we know when we hand out snacks.  *Check-in/Check-out:* We use an app called "Church Center" for our checking in and checking out procedure. For visitors who may not have the app, we will ask for your ID when you go to pick up your children. We know there's a lot to consider when seeking the Lord's leading in searching for a church home. You'll find some answers below to a few questions we hear frequently. We hope to have the opportunity to meet and serve you. We gather at 11am on Sunday mornings for our congregational worship service. We also offer Sunday school at 9:45am. We're right on Route 1, just north of the Stafford County courthouse. You can't miss our big blue sign!  [Directions](https://goo.gl/maps/u72XBzkVKVsirvN18) At SBC, you'll find a warm and welcoming community spanning generations, occupations, and backgrounds. You'll find both pulpit and pew (they're cushioned!), and drums and guitars. Ultimately, you can expect to find a community of sinners, justified by grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus and actively seeking to spur one another on toward godliness. This is our favorite question! We want to be known for making much of Jesus Christ. We are imperfect people rescued by the gracious work of God the Son, Jesus Christ, being sanctified through God the Spirit, for the glory of God the Father.  We think there are lots of great things about Stafford Baptist, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is at the core of it all! We hope and pray that our services are simple, easy to follow and God-glorifying. To that end: We read & preach the Bible, *because in the Bible we find life* We proclaim the Gospel, *because it is the only message for salvation* We focus on Jesus*, because He is the only hope for the world.* You are welcome to keep them with you. It's compromised of teaching sessions, meals, and free time for friendship and fun. This year the retreat is April 11th-12th, 2025. We do this retreat in partnership with Pillar Dumfries and other pillar churches in our local area! Check out more information below. If you have any questions, please contact Tori Abdallah! **Why is it called ADORN? **I Peter 3:3-5 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves."  As we encounter Christ at Adorn, we pray that He would conform us more into His image and ADORN us with godliness. We want to encourage each other to focus on what matters-not the external, but the eternal.  **Age Limit: **Adorn is open to women ages 13 and above. In fact, your teenage daughters are not just ALLOWED to come, but ENCOURAGED to attend. Please spread the word and have them invite their friends as well; Our daughters need to see what it looks like for older women to follow Christ! **Teaching sessions:** This year's theme is RENEWED AS ONE. We'll be studying Ephesians 4 together. We encourage you to read the passage before the retreat to prepare your heart! **Friendship/Fun:** The weekend will provide the opportunity to see old friends within our network as well as the opportunity to strengthen relationships within your church. It is our hope that our churches would be marked by authentic relationships, and weekends like this are a way to make that possible. **What to bring: **1\. A good attitude: this event is 100% run on volunteers--please be nice even when things don't go perfect :) 2.  Bible and journal for taking notes 3\. Toiletries 4\. Whatever you need for a sleepover (melatonin and Earplugs??!!) 5\. A camping chair if you want to sit outside and enjoy the weather/firepit 6\. A snack or game to share (if you want to share) 7\. Your favorite water bottle (to stay hydrated!) **Location******:****Northern Virginia 4-H Center 600 4H Center Dr, Front Royal, VA 22630 **Schedule of Events: **The event is intended to be refreshing, with opportunities to soak up God's Word and His people.  Here is an idea of what we'll be doing throughout the weekend:            ****Friday, April 11* ***4:30-5:30pm - Check-in 5:45 pm - Dinner at the Shelter 7:00pm - Teaching Session #1 8:40pm-Small group discussion groups 9:15pm - Fellowship, Games, Hang out, Relax!           ****Saturday, April 12* ***8:00-9:00 am – Breakfast at the 4H Cafeteria 9:00 am-Personal Quiet Time 9:30 am - Teaching Session #2 11:10 am- Small group discussion groups 11:45-4:00 pm - Lunch, free time, recreation, rest 4:00 pm – Breakout Sessions 5:00 pm – Dinner at the Shelter 6:15 pm - Teaching Session #3 8:30 pm - Event End 4 Rooms with 4 people in each were reserved by the church. If you'd like to stay in one of the rooms that we have reserved, please confirm with Tori Abdallah. While the church will be covering a portion of the cost to stay in a hotel, we ask that you cover $30 of that cost. The hotel does offer free continental breakfast that you are welcome to use instead of breakfast at the retreat center. The cost is $60.*** This registration still includes: Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, and Saturday dinner.  If you are using one of the hotel rooms provided by the church, it will cost $30 and you'll need to follow the instructions under the hotel information tab above! We are giving away a variety of household items: furniture, clothing, shoes, toys and more! Everything is FREE. You do not have to pay for it. We will have children's Sunday school for kids in 5th grade and below.  - Our Sunday morning worship gathering will be at 10:30am in the Main Hall. We are excited to welcome everyone back to our Main Hall. - **Childcare is now being provided for kids ages 3 and under**. We are no longer requiring masks to be worn for those who are fully vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated, we would encourage you to continue to submit to our governing authorities’ recommendations for wearing masks. In light of the new CDC guidance released in July 2021: *All members and attenders (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) should consider wearing a mask to our gatherings.* *This is not a requirement, but a recommendation.* Social distancing will no longer be enforced.  - Livestream has ended. Weddings at SBC are joyous occasions where two Christians, a man and woman, are united before God and witnesses in a worship service. Below are some commonly asked questions about using our building for weddings. Members of SBC may reserve the building for weddings. Members of closely related churches who are able to affirm the SBC confession of faith and church covenant may also reserve the buildings for weddings. Anyone who gets married in our building will have to agree to all the guidelines laid out in our wedding request policy.  Wedding parties will be asked to cover the cost of cleaning, determined by use of the building. As well as pay a fee to cover having someone there to run sound during the rehearsal and ceremony. Marriage is an institution defined by and ordained by God in Scripture as we see in Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6 and Ephesians 5:22-33.  Three sister churches (North Stafford Baptist, Foundation Church Fredericksburg & Stafford Baptist) have come together to offer an opportunity to the couples in our churches to spend some time focused on the marriages with others! Lunch will be provided on Saturday. Please be sure to list any allergies or medical notes during registration.  Linda Niece, a counselor from HeartSong will be joining us on Saturday.  Linda has lived in Montclair, Virginia for over ten years with her husband Jim. Her passion is to walk alongside others, to listen to their particular experience of the brokenness of this world and to know that Jesus meets us in unexpected ways during suffering. Linda has earned three levels of certification from Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) and her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania. This initiative is designed to bring the women of Stafford Baptist Church together for worshipful singing, fellowship, and biblical teaching. But RSVPs are not necessary, feel free to just show up! We are excited to introduce our 2026 Tea and Truth topic: Wholly Devoted, a study on idolatry. This year, we will use *Counterfeit Gods* by Tim Keller to explore what idolatry is, why it is dangerous, and why it deserves our attention. This year, our gatherings will include studying a passage of scripture that shows people pursuing idols. Each table will have a group leader who will guide discussion, helping us observe the text, interpret its meaning, and apply it to our own lives. By closely studying these passages, we aim to uncover how idolatry subtly captures the heart, so we can better recognize, confront, and turn from the idols that compete for our own devotion to God. Tea and Truth 2026 will meet on the second Sunday of each even-numbered month, beginning at 9:00 AM with breakfast and fellowship, followed by worship and table discussions. Our time together will focus on scripture, exploring idolatry, and learning to live wholly devoted to Christ. In 2025, we focused on God’s attributes and learned why He alone is worthy of our worship. Building on that foundation, we now want to ask the Lord to reveal the idols of our hearts—the desires or pursuits we’ve given priority over Him—so we can repent and return our worship fully to the one true God. We have provided a list of resources that will help continue the conversation we are having this year. If you miss a session or would like to go back and listen again. March 2nd*. This is not a command, but rather a strong encouragement to join us.  There are many Scriptural examples for the following of this kind of focused spiritual discipline. In the Old Testament, God’s people fasted as a means of confessing and repenting of sin (Daniel 9:3-5), of mourning over their sin (Joel 2:15-16), as a way to seek protection and direction from the Lord (Ezra 8:21), and as a time to mourn over events in their land (2 Samuel 1:12). In the New Testament, we see the church fasting as they were selecting elders and sending missionaries (Acts 13:2-3), as a normal act of devotion (Matthew 6:16-18), and as an act of worship while they await Jesus’ return (Matt 9:15). We are calling for this time of prayer and fasting as we seek to engage in evangelism in 2024. God has called His people to make disciples (Matthew 28:19) and has given the promise of His presence for those follow him in this (Matthew 28:20). Jesus assures us that when we fast and pray, the Father who sees in secret will reward us (Matthew 6:6, 6:18). And the great reward we long for is to know Him and love Him more. To this end we are asking you to join us in a week of prayer and fasting. May God grant us favor as we seek to engage in evangelism together this year. We are asking people to set aside an hour each day during this week to pray. These times of prayer can be individual or with other brothers and sisters in Christ. To aid you in your times of prayer, we will be publishing daily prayer prompts for the week that includes Scripture and related prayer focuses. Do not feel restricted to these prompts, but use it as much as it is helpful to you. You can also click the photo above and find a guide to help give you some prompts for prayer throughout the week.  If you have specific areas of prayer you would like the elders to be lifting before the Lord, do not hesitate to email the [elders directly](mailto:elders@staffordbaptistchurch.org), and we will pray for you. Fasting will look different for each of us during the week. Most will fast from food in some form or fashion. You may choose to fast from all the meals during the week, one meal a day, or a single meal. This is between you and the Lord. If any of you have medical concerns, then please feel free to fast from something other than food, or please check with your doctor before making changes to your diet. You may also choose to fast from things such as TV, sports, Social Media, or whatever else might normally consume your time. The purpose of fasting is to deny yourself of something so that you can give focused attention to seeking the Lord in prayer and Scripture reading. Use the time you would normally be preparing or eating food to be praying / feasting on God’s Word.
